The many healthy uses for Orange Essential Oil

Orange essential oil is extracted from the fruit peels of sweet orange (Citrus sinensis). This citrus variety is a native of China. It is called sweet orange oil to distinguish it from other citrus family essential oils derived from bitter oranges – like the Bergamot essential oil obtained from Citrus bergamia.

The orange evergreen tree has dark green leaves with white flowers and bright orange round fruit, varying in size, with leather-like skin. The trees are native to China, but are now cultivated extensively in different parts of the world, especially America.

The main active components in orange essential oil are limonene, myrcene, citronellal, neral, alpha-pinene, geraniol, Linalool, and sabinene. These phytochemicals in essential oils are highly potent, and they act individually and together to bring about metabolic changes and benefits to the human body at the cellular level. The therapeutic properties of the orange oil are antiseptic, anti-depressant, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, carminative, diuretic, and a cholagogue (acts as a medicinal agent which promotes the discharge of bile from the system, purging it downward).

Orange oil blends well with these oils – black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, frankincense, sandalwood, and vetiver.

People can use this oil to deal with colds and flu, It helps eliminate toxins from our bodies and stimulates the lymphatic system while helping the formation of collagen ( is the most abundant protein found in skin, blood vessels, digestive system, tendons, and bones).
