Be sure to read this section, and know more about essential oils and our policies:
What is an essential oil?
It is a natural oil obtained from plants or parts of plants, by steam distillation and usually has the characteristic fragrance of the plant or parts of the plants from which it is extracted.
What is a “hand-crafted” essential oil?
Hand-crafted are those oils that require careful selection, picking of certain choice parts of the plant with care, at the right time to press them into essential oils. There is more of the manual process than the mechanized in a hand crafted essential oil.
How does essential oil affect our nasal receptors, brain and alter our moods?
The ‘smell’ receptors in your nose communicate with the amygdala and hippocampus parts of your brain that serve as storehouses for emotions and memories. When you breathe in these essential oil molecules, they stimulate these parts of your brain and influence your overall physical, emotional, and mental health. For example, scientists believe lavender essential oil stimulates the activity of brain cells in the amygdala similar to the way some sedative medications work, helping you fall into a deep, relaxed state of sleep. These results are however significant and work for a large number of users.
Are essential oils flammable?
Essential oils are “Class 3 flammable liquid.” Different essential oils react differently to heat or flame. The “flash point” is usually between 50–60 °C (122 – 140 °F) for most essential oils.
BusinessDictionary.com has this definition of flash point:Temperature at and above which a liquid gives off enough flammable vapor to form a mixture with air that can be ignited by contact with a hot surface, spark, or flame. Lower the flash point, greater the fire hazard. Common test methods of determining flash point include Pensky-Marten Closed Tester (ASTM D93-79), Setaflash Closed Tester (ASTM D3278-78), and Tag Closed Tester (ASTM D56-79). Since each test method may yield a different reading, the test method employed is usually indicated when a liquid’s flash point is given in a material safety data sheet (MSDS) or in technical documents.
The flash point should not be confused with auto-ignition point temperature at which combustion occurs spontaneously, without an external source of ignition.

Glass pipettes, glass droppers are best to use while handling essential oils. Essential oils do not react well with plastics and items made of rubber.

You can test a patch of skin by applying the essential oil and checking to see if the application of the oil causes any skin itching, irritation or red patch. Discontinue use at once, if such symptoms occur.
Essential oils should be stored in a dark, cool place. It is better to store essential oils in a place where the temperature stays consistent throughout the year.
If stored right, essential oils can stay potent for over 1.5 years.
Why are essential oils stored in dark color, amber, dark green or cobalt blue bottles?
Dark color glass prevents sunlight or any other kind of light from reaching the essential oil directly. This helps in maintaining the quality of the essential oil and keeps it fresh and potent longer.
